Regional Manager for a pawn shop chain in East Malaysia, responsible for overseeing branch operations, compliance, financial management and strategic expansion across Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Kota Kinabalu.
Responsibilities
1. Oversee the daily operations and performance of all pawn shop branches within the assigned region.
2. Ensure all branches follow company SOPs, policies, and operational standards.
3. Monitor branch efficiency, customer service, cash handling, inventory and security procedures.
4. Conduct regular branch visits and operational audits.
5. Identify operational issues and implement corrective actions.
6. Ensure proper procedures are followed for receiving, evaluating, valuing and accepting pledged items.
7. Monitor the valuation of gold.
8. Ensure loan-to-value policies are properly applied.
9. Monitor overdue accounts, loan renewals, redemptions and forfeited items.
10. Ensure proper documentation and record keeping for all transactions.
11. Ensure all branches comply with applicable pawnshop laws, regulations and company requirements.
12. Conduct regular checks on documentation, cash, pledged items and branch records.
13. Identify potential fraud, internal control weaknesses and operational risks.
14. Investigate irregularities and report significant issues to senior management.
15. Maintain strict confidentiality and security of customer and company information.
16. Monitor branch cash flow and cash handling procedures.
17. Review branch expenses and control unnecessary operating costs.
18. Ensure daily cash reconciliation and proper banking procedures.
19. Monitor branch profitability and prepare recommendations for improvement.
20. Prepare regular regional performance reports for management.
21. Report on sales, loan portfolio, profitability, staff performance, expenses and operational issues.
22. Provide management with recommendations based on regional performance data.
23. Assist management in identifying suitable locations for new branches.
24. Support new branch setup, recruitment, training and opening activities.
25. Develop strategies to strengthen the company's presence within the assigned region.
26. Work closely with senior management to achieve the company's overall business objectives.
