Overview
Tropical Rhythm Sdn Bhd, a growing infrastructure and property development contractor, is seeking a Construction Manager for a project based in Lawas near Sipitang, Sabah. The role oversees on-site construction activities, coordinates site teams and subcontractors, and ensures works meet quality, safety and schedule requirements.
Requirements
1. Diploma or Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related field.
2. At least 5 years of related field experience in civil and structural construction works.
3. Strong leadership and project management skills.
4. Knowledge of construction methods, safety and quality standards.
5. Good communication and problem-solving skills.
6. Able to manage site teams, subcontractors and projects.
Responsibilities
1. Oversee and manage all on-site construction activities, ensuring works are executed safely, efficiently and in strict accordance with project drawings, specifications and the construction schedule.
2. Coordinate closely with the Project Manager, discipline engineers, subcontractors and supervisors to ensure manpower, materials and machinery are deployed effectively at each stage of construction.
3. Develop and implement detailed construction work plans, monitor daily progress and ensure adherence to key milestones and critical path timelines defined in the project schedule.
4. Ensure all construction works meet required quality, safety and environmental standards in compliance with client requirements and regulatory guidelines such as DOSH and DOE.
5. Lead site coordination meetings, progress briefings and technical discussions to resolve construction issues, sequencing challenges and design discrepancies.
6. Review drawings, method statements and material submissions in coordination with QA/QC and engineering teams, providing site-level validation and feedback.
7. Supervise and mentor site engineers, general foreman and supervisors to ensure work follows best practices and approved work procedures.
8. Verify and approve daily progress reports, approval chits and as-built markups for timely submission to the Project Manager.
9. Support the testing and commissioning phase by coordinating with M&E teams, vendors and commissioning agents to ensure system functionality and readiness for handover.
